Day 1’s come and gone. Mike Drucker was the obvious highlight of the opening night comedy, an unusual occurrence since he’s so fat, ugly, and fat. Janeane Garofalo ended up drawing small, often pity filled laughs from the crowd as she made joke after joke about tv channels (something the majority of people in the room don’t watch). Brian Posehn though, he took the audience’s attention and ran away with it. His self-deprecating approach to laying down the lulz was awesome to see live and it almost made me forget that opening night is for concerts, not stupid comedians. Seriously NYCC? You couldn’t book another 2nd rate musician like Ben Folds Five again? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a HUGE ben folds fan, seen him 3 times now in concert, but last year his hitting-the-piano antics were quite too much for some of the unaccustomed members of the audience. I digress.
I rambled, now I owe you guys what you came for, pictures of cosplay, pictures of booths, pictures of people taking pictures of booths! All in all, I think it was a pretty successful day 1 adventure and I definitely recommend that if you are interested in coming to future NYCCs, Thursday is THE day to see the show floor before it gets way too full.

This old navy vessel is pretty close to my hotel and I couldn’t help walking by it on my way to Comic Con. I was curious why there were so many Asian people around the area, until I found the Chinese Embassy (which I didn’t photograph for obvious reasons).

The guns on this beast of a ship are massive! Seeing this ship also reminded me that I HAVE to ask Adam Berry about what it was like to get to investigate the paranormal activities on this ship.

The tap in tap out system seems to be working well after the first day. My only concern is that since I didn’t tap out at 10:30 PM last night, the stupid system will think I’m still inside 🙁

I had pushed my way to the front of that line so I wouldn’t get trampled to death and took one last picture of the chaos behind me.

My first stop was to the intel booth, as that was the meet-up point my friend and I agreed upon. They had an alpha build set-up for players to try out.

I spoke to the community manager about the newest version of the game and about comic con itself. She was super friendly and was giving out tips for each of the characters being used.

Since the meeting point was the intel booth, I decided to give it the once over and was thrilled to find the Rift on display. There was literally no line when I got there and was handed the unit by this pair of workers. I have to say though, my disability has proven this technology useless. If you have no depth perception, you will not see any 3d when using this device. The head tracking was working very well in the demo that was running, so I still may want to purchase one of these one day.

intel had a lot of “immersion” going on in their booth as well as highlights of their technological prowess.
![This lady was the first of many that I shouted at, "[comic book character name] CAN I GET A PICTURE". This usually lead to other people also wanting to take pictures of the character, but hey, someone has to have the lungs of a photographer and yell to get attention :)](https://i0.wp.com/www.brtw2.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/DSCF3721-300x225.jpg?resize=300%2C225&ssl=1)

This lovely young lady was one of the first booth babes we ran into. She was super friendly and promoting herself at the booth.

She was a good sport about how awkward the first picture came out, so we ended up taking another, far more awkward one.
