Pew Pew Lasers!

From the DDD, there will be a thrilling discussion on time travel (the real kind) with refreshments.  The room is the one in that place that kinda looks like and office, just head to the back, table with refreshments is usually on the left, don’t be shy to take things as people usually are.

CoAS Dean’s Seminar on “Time Travel and Other Physics Digressions”

The College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Seminar Series presents “Time Travel and Other Physics Digressions” with Dr. David Goldberg, associate professor of physics, on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Disque Hall room 109 (32nd Street between Market and Chestnut Streets).
Time travel is largely considered a figment of our imaginations, and yet Einstein’s general theory of relativity contains equations with a number of solutions that point to time machines. Goldberg will explore the fundamental physics underlying time as we currently understand it, and will describe several “practical” designs for time machines. Philosophical issues and paradoxes raised by time travel scenarios will also be discussed in an effort to distinguish between science fiction that is fundamentally impossible and that which is just staggeringly out of reach.
This event is free and open to students, faculty, and staff. Refreshments will be served For more information, contact Amy Weaver at amw55@drexel.edu.

Personally, I think these people get a negative rap for no reason, you should give them a try if you’re up for new experiences and want to explore how people celebrate religion.  They’re open to basically everyone, so don’t feel alarmed if you don’t fit their “mold” because I’m sure they’ll tell you there isn’t one.  Also, they gave me one of the better books I’ve ever read – Blue Like Jazz

Free Hot Chocolate with DALSAA

You know what I love? Missing midterms because of snow.  You know what else I love? Hot chocolate.  Soooo, next thursday – if it doesn’t snow – make sure you hit up the quad before your senior design meeting where you’ll discuss how far behind you are with your adviser and beg for more time, thanks!

Free Hot Chocolate with DALSAA

Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with the Drexel Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Awareness Association (DALSAA) in the Quad on Thursday, February 18 from 4:30 – 6:30pm. Members of DALSAA will be there to answer questions about ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, as well as distribute information about upcoming events. Visit http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~dsodalsaa/DALSAA/Home.html for more details.

Thank you!!

Information session on volunteer positions

Dear all freshmen,

Do you guys still need to volunteer for Univ 101 or whatever it is now?  Just curious, because if you do, this event will serve you VERY well.  Please visit http://guidingyouth.org/ now however so you don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity.  They also have a twitter you can follow at http://twitter.com/drexelgyc, which is desperately in need of followers!

What: Guiding Youth to Careers Information Session
When: Saturday January 9th and Sunday January 10th (identical sessions, your choice)
                3:00-4:00pm
Why: Learning how to serve in this innovative mentoring program which is a UNIV 101 service opportunity
Where: Hill Seminar Room, LeBow Center for Automation Technology
So, this session has been brought to our attention by Mark Szymanski of the GYC, Center for Civic Engagement.  He says:
“I have two (identical) information sessions for a social justice program called Guiding Youth to Careers, a mentoring program in which Drexel students devote an hour a week in order to meet with high school students during class.

We’ll have snacks and food available for this hour-long session.”

So there you have it, a way to complete your volunteer requirement, actually make a difference in Philadelphia, and get a snack.

Best wishes,
Free food at Drexel Staff

Dear everyone else,
Hehehehhe, we know where Hill is and they don’t, mwahahahahaha….
