* New Archives Exhibition and Opening Reception *
“It’s (not) Always Online: Reference Materials from the Drexel Rare Books Collection,” a new exhibition from the University Archives will be on display at W.W. Hagerty Library (33rd and Market Streets) Wednesday, November 18, 2009 through Friday, January 8, 2010. The exhibition will explore questions such as “How did people get anything done before Google?” and “Does anyone need a printed dictionary anymore?”.
The exhibition features a variety of encyclopedias, dictionaries and lexicons from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Among the items included in the exhibition is /The Lexicon of Sextus Pompeius Festus/, circa 1622.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Wednesday, November 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. on the lower level of W.W. Hagerty Library. The reception is open to the public and complimentary refreshments will be served.
Campus to Career Student-Alumni Networking Night
Also known as “ass kissing night” or, “please hire me I need a job” night.
The Drexel Alumni Association, Interfraternity Council and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will sponsor a “Campus to Career” Student-Alumni Networking Night on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the University Club, MacAlister Hall sixth floor (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
The evening includes a student-alumni networking reception with light refreshments from 6 to 6:30 p.m., alumni panel discussion and question and answer session from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and networking and business card exchange from 7:30 to 8 p.m.
The panel of Drexel alumni professionals and moderator will answer questions on topics including:
• After-college budgeting and finance
• How to use Greek and/or student leadership experience to gain an edge in the job market
• Appropriate interview behavior
• Salary negotiation
• Resume writing
• The first 90 days of a new job
The event is open to all students. Alumni are encouraged to attend to share their Drexel experiences with students, as well as meet and connect with other alumni in attendance.
