“Hot Chocolate in the Quad” with “Drexel Smart House”

Drexel Smart House is hosting “Hot Chocolate in the ‘Quad'” on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the “Quad” (between 32nd and 33rd Streets and Market and Chestnut Streets).

“Members” of the Smart House will “discuss” their current projects and opportunities, as well as future “plans”, while sharing “hot chocolate” with students.

Conversation Network Reception

Conversation Network Reception The Conversation Network, a program of the English Language Center, pairs up Drexel students who are studying foreign languages with international students who speak those languages and are studying English. Once partnerships are formed, participants decide when to meet and what to discuss, splitting the time between each language.
A reception for the Conversation Network will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Private Dining Area of the Creese Student Center, lower level (32nd and Chestnut Streets). The reception is an opportunity for any who are interested in participating in the Conversation Network to meet each other. Free pizza and soda will be served.

The Puppy Economy—How can you stop puppy mills?

There will be free food, but you should also consider this because puppies are adorable. Also a good chance to get into the Paul Peck Center if you’ve never been in there. I know I haven’t.

CoAS Dean’s Seminar: “Virtual Reality Technology and Psychology: Will a ‘Virtual Future’ Replace Psychobabble with Technophiles?”

Dr. Maria Schultheis, associate professor of psychology, will give a brief overview of current virtual reality applications
in psychology and will explore the ways these technologies can enhance the study of human behavior.
Virtual reality (VR) technology is increasingly being
recognized as a useful tool for research, clinical
assessment and treatment of various psychological
processes. VR technologies allow psychologists to break
free of traditional methods and create dynamic,
multi‐sensory, 3D stimulus environments for monitoring
and recording behaviors. Challenges to be faced in
developing this technology as a clinical tool will also be
discussed.
